Every penny counts

ricardog started this conversation
I’ve been thinking about what to write next and then it came to me. I was sitting here paying my bills and I noticed something that I really did not notice at first. My basic bills were going up a few pennies at a time.

Think of it, a few pennies at a time, I like keeping track of what and where I spend my money. So I decided to pull my cable bill out and I saw that it was from five cents more than it was about 3 months ago. Now it is more than one dollar more as of today. I was never told, I never noticed it and I was just paying it.

Let me explain it in a different way. This is an example. 1 year ago, my cable bill was $56.75, then I checked my payer work again and six months later, it was $57.23. Then 1 year later, it became $58.09. Now, I never changed service, I never called and asked them to make changes and all charges are the same except the billing part. Now why is that on?

So I decided to check my other basic bills, all of them. The gas, lights and cell phone had the same pattern. So I called them (the billing companies) and asked them was it going on? Why are my bills going up and no one is telling me about it? They had no real answer to my question. So I asked them to reduce it to the original price and they did.

Apparently, what the companies are starting to do. Is adding a couple of cents at a time and raising the bill without you knowing. Now isn’t that funny. If they are doing that to me, I wonder how many more customers are they doing that too.

I’m the kind of person, who gets a bill and just pays it. So for the last 3 months, really the last year, I checked all my bills and if I saw a difference I called them up and asked them why and if they could not give me a good answer. I would ask them to go back to the original price and they did.

So my friends, I want you to go back to your basic bills and see if you see a difference from the current bill to the same bill a year ago, if you did not make a change. Why is this happening to others and me?

I’m a saver and I like paying the bill on time and for the right price. So why am I being treated this way. Why are the billing companies doing this? Remember as we all know, every penny counts.

Until next time.

in response to positive thoughts...   Yes, I think the real lesson here is to pay attention to your bills and if you see it go up, wither it 1 penny or a dollar, question it. I know that I will from now on...

Great information. You are right if they did this to you who knows how many others. Where I live when my bills go up we are notified that they are increasing and why.
Take care

Hello
I haven't seen that in my bills but will be on the look out. What I know but not told that with my cable basic I could have locked in the low rate then it went up after the first year. So I will get it back to the low price or cancel it. I don't get to watch too much of it anyhow. If I was in a house I get a converter box that worked for the house as the one I bought with the government help didn't work for TV in here at all. I think we should go back to free regular television. The same goes for my phone service and internet service lock in the price the first year and I would be paying way less that I could handle so I have some calling or emailing to do.
I have priced other internet services and they are just or if more expensive.
Thank you for the notice as I am going to be watching the extra pennies or dollars on my bills now.
